Construction (Design & Management) Regulations 2015

Health and Safety Law – what you need to do to be compliant

The Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015) were introduced to improve health and safety standards across the construction industry and place clear legal duties on all parties involved in a construction project.

The regulations require organisations to ensure they have access to competent health and safety advice, either in-house or through the appointment of external specialists, in order to comply with their legal responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation.

The Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 places significant responsibilities on employers to protect their workforce, other contractors and any persons who may be affected by their activities from health and safety risks. However, many organisations may not have the specialist knowledge, experience or resources to fully discharge these duties. In such cases, the support of qualified and experienced health and safety professionals is essential to ensure compliance and effective risk management.

LFS Safety are specialists in CDM and construction health and safety, providing expert consultancy services to both commercial and domestic clients throughout the Greater London area. Our experienced and qualified CDM Advisors work closely with Clients, Principal Designers and Principal Contractors to help them meet their statutory duties under CDM 2015. We provide practical, proportionate advice at every stage of the project, assisting in the identification and elimination of risks wherever possible and, where this cannot be achieved, advising on appropriate control measures and safe systems of work to reduce risks to an acceptable level.
